	I think the official term for a joke that references its own form is "metahumor" -- it doesn't break the fourth wall here because the characters aren't aware that they're doing it. Metahumor that breaks the fourth wall usually sounds like "We have to survive! We're the heroes!" (cf. ad nauseum Order Of The Stick)
